An inside look at a unique house located at 101 East 63rd Street in New York, which is currently selling for $38.5 Million. Built in 1936 and redesigned during the 60′s following the Bauhaus movement by Paul Rudolph, this 4-storey town house with 37-foot ceilings and a rooftop garden used serve as a nightlife institution for the jet set while it was owned by Halston with guests including Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, Brigitte Bardot and Sean Connery. Believe it or not, properties like that don’t stay on the market very long. More details in the video below.

Alicia Keys Soho Penthouse for Sale
Description trendland
Talking about dream location, well this is probably one of my favorite street in Manhattan. The 30 Crosby street is where Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz lived in for the last two years. This (sorry for the term) cheesy Soho Penthouse has just come up on the market via Sotheby’s, for $17.95 million. When I say cheesy, I’m talking mostly of the furniture and arrangements and not the place itself. I mean who wouldn’t dream of a 5 bedroom, 4 bath of 6167 sqf triplex Penthouse with an additional 3000 sqf terrace in a pre-war Condo in the heart of Soho !
Sotheby’s Description:
Enter via keyed elevator to either floor; this magnificent sun filled loft has 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 4 powder rooms an enormous state-of-the-art windowed gourmet eat-in kitchen, walk-in butler’s pantry, separate formal dining room that faces East encased in a glass solarium, an expansive living room with fireplace, library/media room are all surrounded by undoubtedly one of the most beautiful private terraces in all of Soho. A floating glass staircase leads to a separate private master suite complete with spa, pass through dressing area and private terrace.

Penthouse Duplex Loft [New York ]
DEscription trendland
This dreamy New York loft (listed at $19.5M) was designed by renowned Architect Michael Haverland. He cleverly used industrial conduits and materials (concrete, steel, walnut finishes, natural light, and hand-blown glass) to create a very clean and luminous modern look, while managing to keep the volume of the space and harnessing a warm environment.
The penthouse duplex here is actually two penthouse apartments combined into one 8,100-square-foot space whose sprawl is only augmented by the sixteen-foot ceilings.
It contains one of three indoor wood-burning fireplaces, and a private entrance to the terrace.
This part of the extensive outdoor space looks north and west, with a good view of the goings-on at Palazzo Chupi (that pink building). This is one of two outdoor fireplaces

Stanley Kubrick’s Photos of 1940s New York City
Description theinspirationgrid
Very interesting images of New York in the 1940s by iconic film director Stanley Kubrick.
“Before Stanley Kubrick was a filmmaker, he was a New York City-based photojournalist for Look magazine. His photography career began in 1945 when Kubrick sold a photo to Look (he was just 17 at the time.) From 1946 to 1950, Kubrick worked for the magazine, completing more than 300 assignments documenting the sights and people of New York City.”
“It was during this period that Kubrick’s respected—and often-imitated—style first became apparent. His photographs are vintage Kubrick: a complex blend of composition, drama, light and mystery.”

In Vanity by Sean Augustine March
Description zillamag
An amazing series of sculptures/mosaics entitled “In Vanity” by up-and-coming artist Sean Augustine March that will be exhibited at the Rivington Design House in New York. These 4-sided pyramids are made with patterned mirrors on acrylic base with a lighted interior that projects colorful animations. These are then reflected on adjacent sculptures to create a unique environment that is “both deeply introspective and adamant in its aesthetic preservation of the infinite”. Note that the video below is unaltered, this is what you see in real life.

Bookguns by Robert The
Description zillamag
An original project by New York-based artist Robert The who carves guns out of of books. Cool you might say (or not if you really hate guns), but the concept goes much deeper: “Obsession with the semiotic erosion of meaning and reality led me to create objects that evangelize their own relevance by a direct fusion of word and form. Books (many culled from dumpsters and thrift store bins) are lovingly vandalized back to life so they can assert themselves against the culture which turned them into debris”. If you take the time to read the book titles, it will make much more sense.

Nick Cave ‘Ever-After’
Description smileinyourface
‘Ever-After’ is an exhibition at Jack Shainman Gallery New York, where American fabric sculptor, dancer, and performance artist Nick Cave (not the singer), presents a large selection of his famous ‘Soundsuits’.
The ‘Soundsuits’ are amazing wearable fabric sculptures in the scale of the artist, made from all sorts of different materials like twigs, dyed human hair, sisal, plastic buttons, beads, sequins, and feathers. In the brightest of colors, in strange blobby forms, creating figures that seem to have travelled here from another planet.
‘The sculptural form based on the scale of the artist’s body is at the core of Cave’s practice. It camouflages the body, masking and creating a second skin that conceals race, gender, and class, forcing the viewer to look without judgment. However, Ever-After marks a noticeable shift in his approach. The ‘Soundsuits’ will interact within subtly narrative tableaux. These figurative landscapes connect the viewer to a social consciousness, summoning the echoes and voices which Cave believes have been paralyzed to silence and subjected to unfair altercations in an often hostile society.’
Exhibition runs till the 8th of October.

The oversized vending machine, located in the lobby of Hudson hotel, will be stocked with a selection of products and Fashion Week necessities from some of America’s most promising designers. Designers participating in this innovative pop-up curation include Alice Ritter, Gemma Redux, Grey Ant, Jolibe, Public School, Ruby Kobo, and Sang A. Items will include a diamond and wood strand bracelet from Ruby Kobo, a python clutch in Dirty Gold from SANG A, hand-made 7-fold wool ties from Public School, and a channeled rabbit fur jacket from Jolibe.
We have been fans of the vending machine concept for some years now and we always new the luxury market would eventually indulge itself in this futuristic way of shopping. There are so many ways to make this concept really dynamic. What we have seen thus far is just caressing the idea, but you can be sure that there will be some major vending machine marketing attacks in the very near future.
